Weigel’s takes on the competition and wins a blue ribbon for its chocolate milk.
Weigel’s recently won its third blue ribbon in the Tennessee State Fair for its chocolate milk. Weigel’s also won blue ribbons for its chocolate milk in 2011 and 2014. This year’s competition was held at the Fairgrounds in Nashville, Tenn. from Sept. 11-20.
“We are pleased to have this recognition awarded for our chocolate milk, especially when ours is the only 2% chocolate milk offering among a competitive whole milk class,” said Douglas Rouch, dairy manager for Weigel’s. “We strive hard to create the richest, most delicious tasting chocolate milk possible, and it’s fantastic to have won this award for the second year in a row.”
The Tennessee State Fair selected Weigel’s chocolate milk from many entrants in a whole milk chocolate milk class. The entrants competed in areas of appearance, color body, texture and flavor. A point system was used for each category, and the total number of points determined the first place blue ribbon winner.
Weigel’s award-winning chocolate milk is still made the old-fashioned way, crafted in small-batches at their dairy in Powell, Tenn. All Weigel’s milk is collected daily from local East Tennessee dairy farmers and is delivered from farm-to-table within 24 hours.
