All 312 pumps in the chain’s Albuquerque market now feature the reduced emissions fuel program.
After early indicators of success, ALON 7-Eleven and GreenPrint LLC, creator of the first reduced emission fuel program, announced continued growth of the Strive – Reduced Emissions Fuel Program as it expands to an additional 14 stations, more than doubling the size of the program’s footprint.
The innovative and turnkey sustainability program is now available at all 312 pumps in the Albuquerque market.
The Strive – Reduced Emissions Fuel Program reduces consumers’ tailpipe emissions through GreenPrint’s proprietary platform and investments in local, regional, and global certified carbon reduction projects to sequester carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. Unlike alternative fuels, GreenPrint’s reduced emissions gasoline program requires no new software, hardware, new tanks, or equipment that would require a capital expense and installation. Instead, consumers with existing traditional vehicles pump the same high-quality ALON fuel as always yet now are ‘green’. While benefiting the environment, some other goals of the program are to drive incremental volume and sales, increase loyalty, and change consumer behavior.
“As we continue the growth of the ALON footprint in Albuquerque, we’re thrilled to see the positive impact that Strive Fuel is bringing to the community and to our stations,” said Jonathan Ketchum, senior vice president of Southwest Convenience Stores.
The Strive – Reduced Emissions Fuel Program has offset over 18,000,000 pounds of CO2 from ALON 7-Eleven consumers since launching in July of 2015. An additional benefit of the program is the local impact on the Albuquerque community, as over 1,000 trees have been planted in the Santa Fe National Forest and along the Rio Grande River. Strive and ALON also sponsored this year’s Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta enabling the carbon neutral flight of 550 hot air balloons.
“The fact that ALON gas stations are making our environment and our community a priority, is a really great feeling,” said Rudy Arviso, Albuquerque resident and ALON customer. “I got to plant trees with my family along the Rio Grande with Tree New Mexico because of the Strive program and ALON, and that day is one that we often reminisce about. I think it’s a great program, and I hope to see it at every gas station one day.”
