Rutter’s has donated a total of $75,000 to local charities through its new philanthropic program.
Rutter’s has identified the three charities that will receive $25,000 each from Rutter’s new “Vote With Your Dollars” philanthropic program.
Rutter’s new corporate giving program, Vote With Your Dollars, has enabled customers to utilize technology and the Rutter’s Rewards loyalty program to help select local charities to receive financial support.
The winners of this years’ Vote With Your Dollars campaign include Make a Wish Foundation, York County Food Bank and Red Cross; all three to receive $25,000 each.
- Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia, will be using their donation to grant five wishes to children in the community with a life-threatening medical condition.
- The York County Food Bank has proposed the renovation of a donated larger building to be used for increased storage space, nutritional education and the elimination of food waste.
- The American Red Cross has chosen to use their donation for the Home Fire Relief program that saves lives, reduces injuries and cuts down on needless losses from home fires in Central Pennsylvania.
“Rutter’s is excited to support these charities as we are always looking for ways to give back to the communities we serve. By choosing local nonprofit organizations, community members will be able to see the positive outcomes from the donations. We would like to thank our customers for taking the initiative by selecting the charities they wished to support.” said Derek Gaskins, Rutter’s chief customer officer.
The Vote With Your Dollars Program utilized the technology of Rutter’s mobile app, website and loyalty program so customers could support the organization that appealed to them. Customers could login to their Rutter’s Rewards account via computer or mobile device to choose from a list of charities they wished to support. Every dollar spent at the pumps or inside any Rutter’s store with a registered Rutter’s Rewards card or VIP credential counted as a vote towards the customers’ selected charity. Each organization was encouraged to share the program with their members, friends and family to collect the most votes.
Since 2005, Rutter’s Children’s Charities has donated over $5 million to support charities in the local communities it serves. Now under the third generation of family leadership, Rutter’s operates 60 convenience stores throughout Central Pennsylvania and a dairy business serving the Mid-Atlantic region with Scott Hartman as president and CEO, Todd Rutter as president of Rutter’s Dairy, and Tim Rutter as president of M&G Realty.
