Kum & Go saves energy while opening a new LEED certified location in Iowa.
Kum & Go celebrated the opening of its newest location on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at 6 a.m. The new 5,000-square foot convenience store is located in Sioux City, Iowa, at 1005 Gordon Drive.
In celebration of this grand opening, the first 99 customers received coupons for 99-cent whole pizzas, redeemable at the Gordon Drive location.
The new store is designed to provide fast and friendly service for customers, offering a wide array of freshly made-to-order pizzas, baked goods and breakfast and deli sandwiches – all prepared daily in Kum & Go’s onsite kitchen. Outside, a variety of fuel options give customers more value and choices at the pump, including diesel, E85 and a new alternative fuel option in E15.
Fill up with E15 Friday for $1.15 per gallon
Customers who stopped by the Gordon Drive location from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20, were able to fill up with E15 for $1.15 per gallon, as well as learn more about the benefits of this alternative fuel. There are only 120 locations nationwide that offer E15, a blend of 15% ethanol and 85% gasoline. Since ethanol is cleaner and has a higher octane content than gasoline, E15 reduces the number of pollutants in fuel and produces less carbon emissions than regular gasoline. In addition, E15 is typically the less expensive option at the pump. Over the next two years, Kum & Go plans to make E15 available at more than 65 stores across Iowa, Nebraska, Arkansas, Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma and South Dakota.
Kum & Go stores are saving energy and water through the company’s commitment to sustainable practices. New stores, such as this one opening in Des Moines, Iowa, are designed, constructed and submitted for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. Kum & Go now has more than 100 LEED Certified stores — more than any convenience store chain in the world.
