The Mexican c-store company looks to test its strength by entering the Houston market.
Mexico’s national oil company, Petróleos Mexicanos, known as Pemex, launched its first gasoline station outside of Mexico in Texas on Thursday.
According to San Antonio Express News, the company is evaluating its brand strength by competing in the U.S. Pemex will begin its pilot test with five Houston stations.
Pemex plans to market to Mexican nationals and other Hispanic consumers, as well as other U.S. demographics.
The new station includes a “taco shack,” along with typical c-store items and U.S. produced gas.
