Tobacco company changes name to better fit its evolving business.
Imperial Tobacco Group is removing the word ‘tobacco’ from its name. From now on, the brand will be known as Imperial Brands.
Reuters reported that Imperial, in a statement, said the new name “better reflects the dynamic, brand-focused business that we are now.”
The change is subject to approval by the British company’s shareholders at its annual general meeting in February.
