Mac’s Convenience Stores will offer free comics to customers throughout January.
Mac’s Convenience Stores and Crime Stoppers have partnered with Captain Canuck to celebrate the 40th Anniversary edition of the iconic Canadian comic book. Mac’s is taking this opportunity to generate brand exposure, while also reinforcing its continued support of Crime Stoppers across Canada. The promotion of the comic also demonstrated Mac’s commitment to its philosophy of Crime Prevention Through Community Engagement.
Captain Canuck is a Canadian comic book superhero created by cartoonist Ron Leishman and artist/writer Richard Comely. The first Captain Canuck comic appeared in July 1975 and was cover titled Captain Canuck #1 and the series is the first successful Canadian comic book in the nation with Captain Canuck’s adventures being published sporadically since creation.
January is internationally known as Crime Stoppers Month, as such, it is appropriate to officially launch The Captain Canuck Enter The Crime Stopper #1 during this time.
This 40th Anniversary comic will be exclusively distributed free of charge at Mac’s Convenience Stores from Ontario to British Columbia and through local Crime Stoppers programs across Canada during the month of January 2016.
The major media launch took place on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. inside Toronto Police Headquarters where Captain Canuck himself was present alongside Chief Mark Saunders and Mayor John Tory.
