Grocery operator, H-E-B, is trying its hand in convenience retail.
Grocery store operator, H-E-B, which operates 370 grocery locations in Mexico and Texas, has announced that the company will soon begin construction of a new mini-mart location, and construction is expected to be completed in March.
According to a report from mySA, this new mini-mart will serve as a full-service convenience store, and will feature fueling stations, a car wash and a Wendy’s fast food restaurant. This 7,416 square foot c-store is slightly more than half the size of the smallest H-E-B location, which measures 12,000 square feet.
Typically, H-E-B operates small kiosks at its gas station locations, but it operates one other convenience location Kenedy, Calif.
This new San Antonio location will be constructed on a 21-acre property owned by the company. This plot also hosts other retail chains, including a Fuddruckers, Conn’s and Academy Sports + Outdoors. It has been reported that the c-store will offer coffee, soda, beer, snacks and ice, among other items.
