Wawa is committed to providing fulfilling job opportunities to members of the communities it serves.
Over the next three months, Wawa Inc. plans to hire more than 5,000 new associates, as each of Wawa’s 700+ stores across the company’s six-state operating region searches for new talent.
The company-wide hiring campaign will span the spring season, as the company looks to fill customer-service level positions. The campaign is part of Wawa’s overall commitment to provide job opportunities that can lead to fulfilling careers to community members across the company’s operating area.
“At Wawa, we exist to fulfill lives every day and part of this commitment means providing fulfilling job opportunities that can lead to fulfilling careers for the more than 26,000 Wawa associates who are part of our team,” said Dave Filano, manager of talent acquisition at Wawa. “As we continue to expand and grow, we’re excited to fill these 5,000-plus positions with people who will quickly become part of the Wawa Way. We’re specifically looking for individuals who want to join our team for the busy summer season, as well those who might be interested in the start of a fulfilling career at Wawa.”
As part of the hiring campaign, every Wawa store will have job opportunities, and in addition, select Wawa stores will also host Open Houses throughout March and April, where potential associates can receive a brief, first interview, learn more about Wawa’s unique culture, explore career opportunities and discover the important role Wawa associates play in their community. More than 100 Wawa stores will hold the open house and will offer free coffee to all open house applicants. Stores hosting the Open House events will have a sign announcing the date and time of the open house. Individuals interested in career opportunities at Wawa are encouraged to apply online prior to attending an Open House event.
Wawa associates hired in these full- and part-time positions enjoy competitive salaries and health benefits, as well as flexible schedules and tuition reimbursement opportunities. In addition, through Wawa’s employee stock ownership plan (ESOP), associates share directly in the growth of Wawa. Today, Wawa is 41% owned by associates through the ESOP. Nearly half the ESOP is owned by store level associates and store management. With more than 10,000 participants, Wawa’s ESOP ranks as one of the top 10 largest ESOPs in the country.
