Walmart has launched an app that will allow customers to pay in-store with their mobile phones.
While Walmart has chosen not to accept digital wallets such as Apple or Android Pay programs, it has now introduced one a mobile payment platform of its own.
According to a report from WPRI Eyewitness News, the existing Walmart app now features ‘Walmart Pay,’ which is intended to make transactions easier for customers. The new platform connects to credit and debit cards, as well as gift cards, and can be used to make purchases at Walmart locations.
WPRI Eyewitness News reported that the ‘Walmart Pay’ app was introduced in test markets a few months ago, and the software can now be used in any Walmart store in the U.S.
The company has ensured that all information used by ‘Walmart Pay’ is protected by Walmart firewalls, and that all customer information is kept safe and private.
