HEINEKEN continues to work towards making Red Stripe a global brand.
HEINEKEN USA has announced that Red Stripe has made its official first run in Jamaica, following the company’s acquisition of a controlling stake in October 2015. Since October 2015, HEINEKEN has been working to bring the production of Red Stripe beer back to the brand’s home country, Jamaica.
“Red Stripe is an iconic brand with strong consumer recognition and a rich history dating back 87 years,” said Andrew Anguin, brand manager, Red Stripe. “We believe fans of this Jamaican staple will be as enthusiastic as we are to see the first run of Red Stripe back home in Jamaica since production was moved in 2012.”
The first shipment of Red Stripe will head for the U.S. on September 1, with cases expected to hit retail shelves in November 2016. The move is part of a larger plan to catapult Red Stripe to a truly global brand within the HEINEKEN portfolio. Red Stripe, a full-bodied lager known around the world for its quality, taste and signature stubby bottle, has earned a loyal following among consumers who live life with a positive attitude.
“At HEINEKEN USA, we believe today’s shoppers put a high value on transparency and authenticity and choose beer brands that reflect that through and through,” added Anguin. “All of the brands in our portfolio – including Heineken, Heineken Light, Dos Equis, Tecate, Tecate Light and Strongbow – are authentic imports produced and shipped from outside the U.S. Now, with production returned to Jamaica, Red Stripe can boast these same credentials.”
