Taking samples from 33 stores located in the southeastern U.S., the same Top Ten items held their own with the exception of 20/32 ounce Ice Cup dropping four positions and making way for Newport cigarettes moving up one position to command position number 10.

Note: Not all of these stores sell alcoholic beverages, and that will affect their rankings.   

This month’s prize for the greatest improvement goes to Monster Java Mean Bean 15 ounce, climbing a whopping 28 positions into the Top 100, followed by BC Powder Two-Pack with a gain of 25. The gain of BC Powder means late summer allergies are taking their toll on shoppers. The 10 Pound Bag of Ice fell four positions to number five, and Hunt Brothers HunkPizza moved back to the top of the list.

The big losers in our list include Doritos, which dropped off the Top 100, losing four positions in August. But the prize for the most losses in ranking goes to NOS 16 Ounce Can, which fell a whopping 44 positions to settle in at position 86 for the month, followed by Fanta Berry 20 Ounce, Smart Water Loose 20 Ounce,  Smart Water One Liter and Diet Dr. Pepper 20 Ounce, in that order.
