Annual golf outing at Holiday Valley helps to raise donations.
NOCO announced a donation of $6,850 to the Newman Family Club, the Tonawanda, N.Y. location of the Northtowns Boys and Girls Club.
The funds were raised by employees and vendor partners who participated in NOCO Express’ annual golf tournament held this past summer at Holiday Valley.
“NOCO and the Newman family are proud to have been a part of the Boys and Girls Club for more than 80 years,” said Michael Newman, NOCO executive vice president. “Thanks to the generosity of this year’s golfers, these funds will support ongoing afternoon programs and upcoming special events for children ages 6-12 who frequent the Newman Family Club.”
Since 1939, NOCO and the Newman family have been actively involved with the Boys & Girls Club. Reginald B. Newman, the founder of then R. B. Newman Fuel Corp. (now NOCO), was among the founding fathers of the Tonawanda Boys and Girls Club. Both Donald F. Newman and Robert L. Newman served as board presidents in 1974 and 1994 respectively. In 2000, Robert Newman again served as board president to help foster the formation of the Northtowns Club.
