Northern Berks Food Pantry to use Rutter’s donation to provide Christmas hams for 100 families.
Rutter’s is helping to make Christmas brighter for families in need.
Rutter’s recently hosted the grand opening of its newest store in Hamburg, Pa. During the ribbon cutting ceremony, Rutter’s donated $3,000 to local charities. Each organization received $1,000. Recipients were the Hamburg Police Department, the Union Fire Company No. 1 of Hamburg, and the Northern Berks Food Pantry, which will use the contribution to provide 100 families hams for Christmas.
This is the 65th Rutter’s location and is the first Rutter’s store in Berks County. Attendees at the event included Congressman Charlie Dent, State Representative Jerry Knowles and State Senator David Argall. The Hamburg Rutter’s will be the first convenience store in Berks county to sell beer. The 29 degree Rutter’s Beer Cave will be stocked with a variety of craft, import, and domestic beers and ciders available in singles, six and 12 packs inside.
“Our Grand Openings are more than just a celebration of a new store. We give donations to local organizations as a way to say thank you to our newest Rutter’s community. We are a family-run business for 10 generations and 269 years. Giving back to communities we serve is part of our values and culture,” said Derek Gaskins, Rutter’s chief customer officer.
