More than 1,250 retailers and suppliers were on hand last week to honor S. Abraham & Sons (SAS) as the wholesaler celebrated its 90th anniversary at its annual trade show in Grand Rapids, Mich.
“Once in a lifetime you get to celebrate 90 years.” said Alan Abraham, president of S. Abraham & Sons, which distributes to grocery and convenience stores across the Midwest. “At SAS, we are driven by a desire to do better for ourselves and our customers. Thank you to all our partners past and present. You have helped make us the company we are today.”
The company’s mission, Abraham said, is to exceed expectations as it prepares for the next 90 years. “Our goal is to provide our customers with the highest quality of service possible and to continuously respond to their needs. We must listen, respond and remain committed to exploring new opportunities,” he said. “Products have changed, customers have changed, but our guiding principles are built on same philosophical guidelines as our grandparents. We will not waiver in our commitment to excellence.”
That commitment to excellence includes six key points, Abraham said:
* Creating innovation;
* Investing in smart technology;
* Delivering convenience every day;
* Exceed expectations;
* Providing fresh foodservice solutions;
* Providing c-stores tools for success.
“You have relied on SAS to be your business partner. We want you to know you can always count on us to be the partner you need and to work hard for you every day,” Abraham said. “We appreciate your support and encouragement every step of the way.”
Michigan State Sen. Peter MacGregor (far left) presented Abraham (second from left) with a state proclamation honoring S. Abraham & Sons 90 years of service as a Michigan-based company.
“Ninety years is quite an achievement,” Snyder wrote. “The ability to succeed for 90 years is something the family can be proud of as it looks to the future.”
Long History
In 1927, Sleyman Abraham founded S. Abraham & Sons beginning a 90-year journey of supplying convenience stores across the Midwest. Along with his sons, Abe, Wade and Jim, Sleyman was an entrepreneur who worked tirelessly to ensure a successful wholesale distribution company.
Today, S. Abraham & Sons is a fourth generation convenience store distributor serving the needs of convenience retailers throughout eight Midwestern states. The 2017 trade show featured educational sessions focused on convenience store issues and more than 175 booths. Mentalist Oz Pearlman dazzled attendees with a performance featuring unique illusions and magic tricks.
