Creates new position of chief marketing officer.
Casey’s General Stores Inc. introduces a new board member and new chief marketing officer.
Casey’s elected Judy Schmeling as a Class III director, effective March 29, 2018, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Johnny Danos, who passed away on March 18, 2018.
“We were saddened at Johnny’s passing, and deeply appreciated all the guidance he provided the company over the last 14 years,” said President and CEO Terry Handley. “Judy brings a wealth of retail and customer experience to the board. We’re excited to be able to add her skill set to our team.”
Prior to joining the board at Casey’s, Schmeling was most recently the chief operating officer of HSN Inc., an interactive multichannel retailer, and the former president of Cornerstone Brands, a division of HSN. She also currently serves on the Board of Directors of Constellation Brands Inc., a Fortune 500 company and leading international producer and marketer of premium alcoholic beverages.

Casey’s General Stores also announced the hiring of Chris Jones to the newly-created position of chief marketing officer (CMO). In his CMO role, Jones will oversee the Marketing, Advertising, Food Service and Digital activities at Casey’s, among other responsibilities.

Prior to joining Casey’s, Jones’ career includes leadership or executive positions with Mars Inc., Athene USA (formerly Aviva USA) and most recently as the senior vice president of marketing at convenience store operator Kum & Go, where he championed Kum & Go’s brand and customer experience initiatives, and the creation, implementation and development of the company’s first customer loyalty program.
