Technology to allow customers to make in-vehicle payments.
Chevron Products Co., a division of Chevron U.S.A. Inc., is working with Honda Innovations’ Honda Developer Studio on a connected-car digital experience with in-vehicle payment.
The two companies will collaborate on technology to enable drivers to pay for fuel and make convenience store purchases from their vehicle, allowing for a more secure and convenient experience. This technology will also offer Chevron’s marketers and retailers new opportunities to reach consumers and help drive brand loyalty.
The in-vehicle payment technology concept for fueling at the pump will be demonstrated during Chevron’s upcoming 2018 Retail Convention in Phoenix, Ariz. Upon parking near the pump, the driver opens the in-vehicle app from the dashboard, selects the pump number and the payment method of their choice, and then starts fueling. With this technology concept, Honda drivers will be able to have a convenient payment experience from right inside their car.
“We are delighted to announce our new collaboration with Honda Developer Studio,” said Gilson Ribeiro, Chevron’s general manager of marketing in the Americas. “Tapping into their expertise in advanced in-vehicle technology, we will be able to offer consumers a more seamless fueling experience when purchasing our high-quality Chevron and Texaco-branded fuels. Chevron is also working with Honda to offer consumers a more personalized, convenient c-store experience.”
“Payments have evolved from physical plastic cards to a digital, mobile wallet and Honda Developer Studio sees this as an opportunity to bring this technology into the car to pay for services from the comfort of one’s own vehicle,” said John Moon, managing director, strategic partnerships at Honda Innovations. “Together with Chevron, we can help create a whole new in-vehicle experience for consumers focused on simplicity and convenience.”
