The first Amazon Go in California opens for business.
Amazon opened its most recent cashier-less Amazon Go store, on Tuesday, Oct. 24, this time in San Francisco. The new location marks the first Amazon Go location in California and the sixth nationwide.
According to ABC7 News, the new Amazon Go is located on the corner of California Street and Battery Street in San Francisco’s Financial District.
At Amazon Go, customers scan the Amazon Go app as they enter the store, select their products and leave. Ceiling cameras and sensors track purchases and customers are charged as they exit the store.
Amazon opened its first Amazon Go store in Seattle, home of its headquarters, in 2016. In addition to the San Francisco location there are three Amazon Go locations in Seattle and two in Chicago.
Bloomberg News has reported that Amazon is considering opening as many as 3,000 Amazon Go stores in the next few years.
