Core-Mark creates new position of senior vice president, executive growth.
Core-Mark Holding Co. Inc., one of the largest marketers of fresh and broad-line supply solutions to the convenience retail industry in North America, announced three executive appointments, all of which take effect on Jan. 1, 2019:
William Stein has been named to the new position of senior vice president, enterprise growth, with responsibility for overseeing and executing on Core-Mark’s growth strategies, including those related to market share expansion, helping customers grow their sales profitability and executing on our category management initiatives. Stein is currently serving as senior vice president (SVP), eastern divisions.
Christopher Hobson has been named SVP, eastern divisions, succeeding Stein and moving from overseeing the company’s western divisions. Under his leadership, the western divisions made sizable contributions to the Company’s overall success this year.
Alan Thomas has been named SVP, western divisions, succeeding Hobson and moving up from his previous role of division president of the company’s Corona, Calif. division, where he led the division through several successive years of profitable growth.

Finally, Alan Thomas has an impeccable record of driving performance in the divisions he has operated for the company, and we are excited to see him leverage his expertise across the western region.”

About William Stein
William Stein has served Core-Mark for 25 years, including the last five years as SVP of the eastern divisions. Prior to his current role, Stein was the president of the Fort Worth Distribution Center, following a successful tenure as its general sales manager. He also previously held key roles in corporate merchandising and food service. Prior to joining Core-Mark, Stein served in sales positions for McLane/Sandy’s Fast ‘n Fresh.
About Christopher Hobson
Christopher Hobson, an 18-year Core-Mark veteran, has served as senior vice president-western divisions since Oct. 1, 2017, and previously held the role of senior vice president of sales and marketing from January 2013. He also led marketing efforts for the company’s Fresh & Vendor Consolidation Initiatives, served as President of the Company’s Corona and Hayward Divisions, and held positions in the area of sales management. Hobson joined Core-Mark from 7-Eleven.
About Alan Thomas
Alan Thomas joined Core-Mark 17 years ago, and for the past 10 years, has served as the division president in three of the company’s largest distribution centers: Corona, Los Angeles and Albuquerque. Prior to his division management roles, Alan progressed through the company’s sales ranks, culminating in the role of general sales manager of our Corona Division. Thomas joined Core-Mark from 7-Eleven.
