Par Hawaii customer wins grand prize.
Vaipalolo Pitolo, a loyal Par Hawaii customer who hails from Waipahu, Hawaii, was the 2018 grand prize winner in KickBack Points’ annual Fantasy Football Contest.
As the 2018 Fantasy Football grand prize winner, Pitolo received two tickets to the NFL’s Big Game in Atlanta on Feb. 3.
The Grand Prize, valued at nearly $40,000, included roundtrip airfare for two, a hotel room for four nights, two pre-game party passes, two game programs, merchandise coupons and an opportunity to meet former and current NFL players.
The contest, held from Sept. 6 to Dec. 30, 2018, was open to all cardholders enrolled in the KickBack program. Every time cardholders used their card, they had the opportunity to earn Fantasy Football points over the course of the professional football season.
In Hawaii, the KickBack program is branded under Par Hawaii’s Kama‘aina Rewards program. Pitolo, who shops regularly at Par Hawaii’s 76- and Hele-branded convenience stores, said winning the contest was a complete surprise.
“At first, I thought it was a scam,” said Pitolo, after hearing about the news from her husband, Faatuatua, who received the initial notification call from KickBack Points.
As the Grand Prize winner, Pitolo, a stay-at-home mom of three children, was given the opportunity to select from among different activities scheduled around the Big Game festivities. “I chose to go to the Bruno Mars concert because I didn’t get to see him when he was in Hawaii,” she said.
Pitolo is originally from American Samoa and moved to Hawaii in 2011. She has been on trips between American Samoa and Hawaii, but the trip to Atlanta was her first trip to the mainland U.S. She was accompanied on the trip by her husband.
KickBack’s Fantasy Football promotion, now in its sixth year, was an extremely successful one for the company. During the contest, KickBack cardholders earned one new fantasy football player every time they use their KickBack Points card. The players were displayed at the bottom of their receipt.
Cardholders then earned Fantasy Football points based on their players’ game performance every week. Weekly points accumulated over the entire course of the pro football season. The KickBack cardholder with the most points was awarded the grand prize.
“Fantasy Football is just another way that KickBack Points helps retailers connect with their customers,” said KickBack CEO Pat Lewis. “We recognize that consumers have many opportunities. Our goal is to create unique and memorable experiences to show our appreciation for their business.”
During the promotion, more than five million players were given out to customers, plus the number of transactions, frequency of visits to stores, average transactions per day and average redemptions per store all experienced double-digit growth for participating retailers during the life of the promotion.
