A new, smaller-scale Wawa convenience store in Philadelphia will feature a walk-up window and serve as a testing ground for food, drinks and packaging.
At 3,000 square feet, the store is much smaller than most Wawas locations and will revolve around a grab-and-go case filled with prepared foods.
At the outdoor, walk-up window, customers will be able to grab food they ordered through the Wawa app.
“The store is tailored to our city customers who live, work and shop right in the neighborhood,” said the company in a statement. “And when you open our doors, amongst your Wawa favorites like coffee and hoagies, you will find new products throughout: a new, upscale hot tea offer, cold pressed juices, energy shots, and more.”
Another feature of the store will be its “Test Nest,” where Wawa will be trying out environmentally friendly alternatives to plastic lids, straws, bags and stirrers.
“While you may not be able to see it, the store will be smarter with sensors and connected devices throughout,” Wawa said.
