The Marathon Petroleum Foundation Inc., a philanthropic affiliate of Marathon Petroleum Corp. and its subsidiaries, contributed $100,000 to support relief efforts for those impacted by tornadoes in the greater Dayton, Ohio, area.
The donation will be split evenly between The Foodbank Inc. and the Dayton-Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.
In addition to the cash donation, Speedway, a Marathon Petroleum subsidiary, contributed 1,500 cases of bottled water to The Foodbank Inc. in the days immediately following the Memorial Day tornadoes.
“These storms impacted our friends, neighbors, employees and customers in our own backyard,” said Speedway President Tony Kenney. “We know the recovery process will take time, and this donation will help members of our communities recover.”
Speedway employees in the region also helped with donations of non-perishable food and supplies, recently delivering a truckload to the Dayton Foodbank.
