Texas-based Buc-ee’s was named the top c-store on GasBuddy’s ‘Top 101 Fuel and Convenience Brands’ list for the third consecutive quarter, while Chevron, Casey’s General Store, Kwik Trip and Twice Daily all came out on top in their respective segments.
Gasbuddy revealed consumer rankings for the fuel retailing and convenience industry in the third quarter report card based on nearly 2 million ratings submitted by GasBuddy users between July 1 and Sept. 30, 2019.
The rankings examine fuel and c-store retailers across five different number-of-location segments in the six categories including cleanliness, coffee, customer service, outdoor lighting, restrooms and overall experience.
“Gas station convenience stores were top destinations for drivers at the end of the summer driving season,” said Frank Beard, convenience store trends analyst at GasBuddy. “Many of the top brands saw upward movement quarter-over-quarter as they catered to seasonal demand. In fact, the majority of the highest rated brands in the third quarter are regional favorites with robust foodservice offerings, making them formidable pitstops for on-the-go consumers who would have otherwise stopped at a quick service restaurant.”
Highlights of the report include:
- The Midwest has five fuel and convenience brands in the top 15 of GasBuddy’s ‘Top 101 Fuel and Convenience Brands’, making them the region in the U.S. with the most top-rated brands. The Midwest is followed by the Northeast, having four brands in the top 15.
- Casey’s General Store (1,000+ locations), Twice Daily (50-249 locations) and Buc-ee’s (30-49 locations) captured top ratings in their respective segments in Q3 in all six categories.
- Hawaii-based Hele (30-49 locations) excelled in the rankings this past quarter, making the top 15 of the ‘Top 101’ List for the first time and taking a top 5 spot in cleanliness, customer service and overall experience.
- Outdoor lighting received the most ratings out of any category, followed by cleanliness and customer service.
