In honor of the grand opening of the 200th Wawa Florida store, Wawa and The Wawa Foundation will donate $75,000 through three grants — one to each of its focus areas of health, hunger and everyday heroes.
The grants will include:
- $25,000 to Children’s Miracle Network Hospital affiliates in Wawa’s market areas in Florida
- $25,000 to USO Chapters in Florida
- $25,000 to Feeding Florida Food Banks
Since 2012, Wawa and The Wawa Foundation have contributed more than $7 million to community causes in Florida throughout The Wawa Foundation’s three focus areas, supporting more than 2,000 state and local nonprofits.
“Community giving has been a key part of the Wawa story in Florida” said Jay Culotta, The Wawa Foundation’s President. “We are honored to use the 200th Wawa store milestone to make new commitments and provide meaningful support to some of the organizations we have been partnering with from the beginning of our Florida journey,”
In addition to financial grants from both Wawa and The Wawa Foundation, Wawa stores have supported local food pantries through Wawa Share, Wawa’s food donation program which enables stores to donate unsold food items to local food pantries on a daily basis.
Since inception of the program, Wawa Florida stores have donated more than 3 million pounds of food to their neighbors in need.
Wawa is also committed to being a meaningful part of some of the most important events and initiatives throughout the Sunshine State. Thousands of Wawa associates are supporters of local community events, including LLS Light the Night walks; JDRF OneWalks; Orlando Health’s Walk for Winnie; Special Olympics Summer Games & Polar Plunges; USO Care Package and Back Pack distributions; and Kids Café and Senior Meals food distribution events, annually.
“All of us at Wawa and The Wawa Foundation are proud to support these truly life changing causes and we are thankful to our community partners for all they’ve done to build stronger communities in the areas of Florida that Wawa serves,” said Culotta. “We look forward to growing our support even further in the years to come.”
