I first met Susan when she ran the convenience store operation for one of my customers. Susan was obsessed. I naturally gravitate toward people who are on a mission, because I am on a mission too, and people on missions usually have things in common, obsession being just one of them.

Susan’s obsession was to control the aromas in her convenience stores. According to Susan, when a customer smelled fresh coffee brewing, or popcorn popping, it signaled an urge to eat or drink. I can relate to that. I don’t see anything wrong with using the five senses to get customers to buy your stuff, and the sense of smell is one of the most powerful senses we can manage.
