Phil Kassa replaces John Denha as chairman.
The Associated Food and Petroleum Dealers (AFPD) has elected its new Executive Board members.
The following members were elected to a one-year term, but can serve up to two consecutive terms.
John Denha, owner of four supermarkets including Huron Foods Market in Waterford, Mich. and 8 Mile Foodland in Southfield, Mich., steps down as chairman, a position he held for the last two years.
Phil Kassa, owner of Heartland Marketplace in Farmington Hills and Westland, Mich., as well as Saturn Food Center in Dearborn, Mich. and Saturn Super Foods in Detroit, Mich. will now serve as chairman of the Board.
Cliff Denha, owner of Wine Palace in Livonia, Mich. will serve as the board’s secretary and Paul Elhindi, owner of Corner Market in Lyndhurst, Ohio will serve as treasurer.
Tom Baumann, owner of two Ric’s Food Centers in Mt. Pleasant, as well as a store in Rockford, Interlochen, and Ithaca, Mich. will serve as Supermarket/Grocery vice chair.
Jerry Crete, owner of two Ideal Party Stores in Bay City, Mich. will serve as Convenience/Liquor Store vice chair.
Mike Mitchell, owner of Markham Oil and Booze Barn in Williamston, Mich., as well as Outlet Oasis in Howell, Mich. and Roadtrip Oasis in Perry, Mich. will serve as petroleum/auto retail vice chair.
Al Chittaro, executive vice president of Faygo Beverages Inc. in Detroit, Mich. will serve as supplier vice chair.
