Atlas Oil is beginning 2013 with a focus on strategic growth and expansion and has added two new executives to its leadership team. Both new leadership team members, Edward Shelton and Satish Kalala, have strategic growth backgrounds.

“We had a great year in 2012 and have built the fundamentals for our business, concentrating on our people, our customers and our culture. We also took on new business initiatives such as our emergency services work for Superstorm Sandy and have demonstrated that we are ready for growth and expansion within our industry,” said Sam Simon, CEO and owner of Atlas Oil. “I am excited about our growth prospects as we move into 2013 and beyond.”

Edward Shelton joined Atlas in November of 2012 as vice president of marketing. In this role, he will focus on building strategic market intelligence and growth strategies for Atlas Oil. In addition, he is responsible for customer service.

Shelton joined Atlas from Alcoa in New York City, where he spent eight years starting as an engineer. He then moved to sales and finally to corporate marketing, where he spent the last few years. As part of Alcoa’s Growth and Market Strategy team, Shelton was focused on the automotive, commercial transportation and marine markets. His responsibilities included providing market intelligence and developing growth strategies for Alcoa lines of business in those three markets.

Shelton holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. He has been active in several community activities in New York through a partnership with New York Cares. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Shelton and his family will be relocating from New York to the metro Detroit area in the New Year.

Satish Kalala joined Atlas in November of 2012 as director of strategic business development. In this role, he will focus on driving enterprise wide strategies, identify and develop advanced analytics and implement world-class processes.

Kalala has more than 16 years of experience in advising, managing and delivering rapid revenue growth and strategic initiatives for large global corporations. He most recently worked with Deloitte, a top-tier management consulting firm where he helped several Fortune 500 companies execute strategic initiatives, including expansion into new markets, mergers and acquisitions and strategic roadmap development.

Kalala began his career as an R & D engineer and has evolved his career path into business process improvement and business strategy leadership roles.

Kalala holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from SVU College of Engineering in India. Born in Tirupati, India, Kalala is active in several Hindu philanthropic groups. He and his family reside in Farmington Hills, Mich.
