Bazzi Oil and CITGO support five students in their journey to continuing education.

CITGO-marketer Bazzi Oil invited 800 community members to an awards ceremony this June to honor five high school students who will each receive $500 scholarships for continuing education.

Destiny Harris, Briana Pannell, Mae Mova, Channel Wilkerson and Roselyn Wtson, all seniors at Pershing High School and Osborn High School received scholarships from Bazzi Oil, with support from CITGO Petroleum Corp., for their college education at accredited universities.

“These students are working so hard toward a better future, and I couldn’t think of a better way to help than by fueling that drive to succeed,” said Zaher Abuelroos, executive operations manager for Bazzi Oil. “It is truly my hoor to provide them with support and encouragement, and to use this opportunity to celebrate education, and encourage other students to follow in the footsteps of these role models.”

Bazzi Oil and CITGO also offered the Detroit-area community with a day of free family activities, including a moon bounce, dunk tank, free food, reduced gas prices and window washing for cars.

Bazzi Oil & Gas has been in the Detroit-area since 2000 and distributes to multiple gas stations in the region. CITGO is also committed to giving back to local communities through its network of nearly 6,000 locally-owned retail locations.
