Cumberland Farms is reminding high school seniors across its 11-state service area that less than two weeks remain to apply for the company’s popular Believe and Achieve Scholarship Program.

The Dec. 15, 2013 application deadline is right around the corner, and the convenience store retailer is eager to once again help 130 bright and ambitious young adults achieve their dreams of attending college next year.

Since Cumberland Farms began the program seven years ago, the company has awarded over $800,000 in Believe and Achieve Scholarships to hundreds of college-bound high school students. Information about this year’s Believe and Achieve Scholarship program, including entry criteria and an opportunity to hear from some of last year’s recipients, is available online at http://cumberlandfarms.com/doinggood/BelieveandAchieve.aspx, and at Cumberland Farms store locations.

“At Cumberland Farms, we believe in aiding young people in the pursuit of reaching their goals, especially achieving the dream of going to college,” said Ari Haseotes, president and group chief operating officer, Cumberland Gulf Group of Cos. “We urge graduating high school seniors to apply before the Dec. 15 deadline in order to be considered for one of this year’s Believe and Achieve Scholarships.”

As part of the company’s commitment to fostering the future of youth, the Believe and Achieve program provides $1,000 scholarships to eligible graduating high school seniors across its service area. This year, Cumberland Farms will award $130,000 in scholarships to 130 students in Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.

The program is open to students entering a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited college, university or vocational-technical school in the fall of 2014 who live within 30 miles of any Cumberland Farms location. Scholarships will be awarded based on academic performance, as well as financial need. Winners will be notified in the spring of 2014.

Since formalizing its Corporate Giving Program eight years ago, Cumberland Farms has donated millions of dollars in cash and products to causes that directly benefit thousands of young people. These include scholarships, direct-to-school programs, youth sports, local fundraising through Grand Opening events, the Cups for Kids campaign, and Believe and Achieve.
