BP Plc and Royal Dutch Shell have both revealed that they are returning to normal operations in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Both companies evacuated their structures to avoid the potential threat caused by a particularly dangerous storm,

Oil and gas companies including BP, Shell, and Exxon Mobil Corp. shuttered wells and evacuated personnel as storm clouds passed over Florida earlier this week and formed a tropical depression in the eastern Gulf, the news site reported.
That storm never had a chance to pick up strength and passed through the area uneventfully. Its remnants have reached as far as Mississippi according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami.
According to a survey of producers by the U.S. Minerals Management Service, 58.3% of Gulf crude-oil output and 25.2% of gas production had been stalled. Workers were evacuated from 100 of 834 manned platforms and 14 of 89 rigs.
