Louisiana will mark the retailer's sixth new state since revealing its expansion plans in 2024.

Buc-ee’s has revealed that it will break ground on its newest travel center in Ruston, La., on Oct. 24. The chain will celebrate the groundbreaking of its first location in Louisiana with a ceremony attended by local leaders, it noted in a recent statement.

Located at I-20 and Tarbutton Road, Buc-ee’s Ruston will occupy 74,000 square feet and offer 120 fueling positions. Buc-ee’s will offer its signature favorites, including Texas barbeque, homemade fudge, kolaches, Beaver Nuggets, jerky and fresh pastries. Customers can enjoy thousands of snack, meal and beverage options, along with award-winning restrooms and competitively priced fuel.

Dignitaries scheduled to attend the Buc-ee’s Ruston groundbreaking ceremony include Mayor Ronny Walker, Senator Bill Cassidy and City Council Members John Denny, Carolyn Cage, Angela Mayfield, Melanie Lewis and Bruce Siegmund.

Founded in Texas in 1982, Buc-ee’s has grown to operate 54 stores nationwide. Since launching its multi-state expansion in 2019, Buc-ee’s has opened travel centers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, Colorado, Mississippi and Virginia.

Since 2024, Buc-ee’s has broken ground on its first locations in Ohio, Arkansas, Arizona and Kansas.

“Ruston is a smart-growth town with a big attitude and the perfect location for us in northwest Louisiana; that is a great combination for us, and we are honored to be here,” said Stan Beard, Buc-ee’s Director of Real Estate and Development.

Buc-ee’s Ruston will bring more than 200 full-time jobs to the area, with starting pay beginning above minimum wage, full benefits, a 6% matching 401k and three weeks of paid vacation.

Louisiana, Kansas and Beyond
The news of Buc-ee’s expansion to Louisiana comes on the heels of its move to Kansas — a market the retailer will break ground on later this week.

Located in Kansas City, the site will also boast 74,000 square feet with 120 fueling positions. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Oct. 16 with local dignitaries attending, including members of the UG Board of Commissioners and Mayor Tyrone Garner.

“We are excited to be in Kansas and practically in the middle of the country; our Kansas City location will be the perfect pitstop for literally everyone in the United States,” said Beard earlier this month.

Buc-ee’s Kansas City will bring at least 225 full-time jobs to the area.

As it stands today, Buc-ee’s has more than 50 travel stops in nine states, with plans to grow that number exponentially in the coming years.
