Casey’s recently paid tribute to fallen service members and military families during an outdoor event as part of the “Rolling Remembrance” relay — a more than 14,000 mile long relay of an American flag flown in combat during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2012 to help raise awareness and funds for the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation.
Organized by PepsiCo, U.S. Military Veterans passed off the storied flag at various relay points while utilizing normal business routes, before eventually stopping at Casey’s Ankeny, Iowa store.
Attendees of the event heard from Casey’s President and CEO Darren Rebelez, senior vice president, commercial Pepsi beverages North America Tameka McBride and Children of Fallen Patriots Development Analyst and program beneficiary Alexa Fairis.
“At Casey’s, our purpose is to make life better for our communities and guests every day, including supporting and honoring our service members and their families for their immense sacrifices,” said Rebelez. “We’re proud to partner with PepsiCo and participate in meaningful opportunities like Rolling Remembrance, which raises awareness for Children of Fallen Patriots and its efforts to provide valuable scholarships to children who have lost a parent while serving in the line of duty.”
Casey’s is a Fortune 500 company operating approximately 2,900 convenience stores. Founded more than 50 years ago, the company has grown to become the third-largest convenience store retailer in the U.S.
