Casey’s General Stores officially reopened its Marshalltown, Iowa store location on May 24 after almost 10 months of repairs due to a destructive tornado.
To celebrate the reopening and the community as a whole, Casey’s donated $10,000 to the Veterans Memorial Coliseum project, and offered the community a limited-time reduced-price fuel promotion.
“The Veterans Memorial Coliseum symbolizes so much for the Marshalltown community,” said Mike Richardson, Casey’s Vice President of Marketing, who presented the check. “It’s the heart of the city and is the home of so many programs and events that benefit the people of this hard-working town. Casey’s wants to be a part of rebuilding this important community landmark.”
The past year has been a continuum of rebuild — plans, construction and fundraising for those projects — including the Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Jenny Hart is the recreation department coordinator and oversees all of the Coliseum’s programs and operations,
“This building was used by hundreds of residents on a daily basis, and it had to be gutted to the studs due to the tornado,” she said. “We rely on donors like Casey’s to help us get it back in operation, and I can’t wait for our residents to be able to come back to the Coliseum.”
Country-music entertainer Jason Brown is also on board with the Veterans Memorial Coliseum rebuild efforts and will be hosting a benefit concert in Marshalltown on July 6.
Casey’s operates over 2,100 convenience stores in 16 states in the Midwest and South. Casey’s is currently the fourth-largest convenience store chain, and the fifth-largest pizza chain in the U.S.
