BP America operates the popular ampm brand of convenience stores, many of which are located in West Coast markets. In late 2018, BP also announced the acquisition of Thorntons through a joint venture with ArcLight Capital. All existing stores continue to use the Thornton’s name and retain the company’s Store Support Center in Louisville, KY.
Thorntons was Convenience Store Decisions’ 2011 Convenience Store Chain of the Year.
BP has a larger economic footprint in the U.S. than it do anywhere else in the world. The company employs about about 10,000 coast to coast. Since 2005, BP has invested more than $130 billion in the U.S, and last year alone, its operations contributed more than $90 billion to the U.S. economy.
