One of America’s most famous convenience store brands, Wawa’s founding began in 1803 as an iron foundry in New Jersey. In 1902, the company opened a small dairy processing plant in Wawa, PA that led to a successful milk business due to their quality, cleanliness, and “certified” process.
The first Wawa Food Market opened in 1964 as the home delivery of milk began to decline, and today Wawa is a chain of more than 900 convenience stores with more than 600 offering gasoline. Famous for their hoagie sandwiches, Wawa is a destination for made-to-order foodservice, freshly brewed coffee, and more.
Wawa was also the first Convenience Store Decisions Chain of they Year award winner in 1990.
