Circle K said that Gilbarco Veeder-Root will be providing FlexPay Encrypting PIN Pad field upgrades for more than 2,000 Circle K locations in the U.S., as well as Encore S dispensers to upgrade its legacy dispensers to achieve PCI compliance.

The award-winning FlexPay EPP hardware is Payment Card Industry Encrypting PIN Pad (PCI EPP) compliant and is the industry’s most commonly-chosen solution for compliance at the forecourt. Gilbarco FlexPay EPP provides Triple Data Encryption Standard (TDES) treatment of the Personal Identification Numbers (PIN) entered by consumers during debit card transactions at the pumps, in keeping with PCI requirements.

Circle K’s strategy is to complete their compliance program before the July 2010 deadline. This will help the company minimize disruption to their sites, ensure availability of service technicians and effectively manage labor costs.

“Circle K customers will be among the first to benefit from PCI debit protection at the forecourt,” said Scott McDowell, director of marketing for dispenser applications at Gilbarco Veeder-Root. “The modular design of FlexPay EPP makes compliance easy through seamless integration to Gilbarco dispensers and backwards compatibility to existing point of sale systems without wiring changes.”
