Acquisition brings company’s store count to 31 in four states.
Coen Oil Co. has purchased six Kwik King stores, as well as individual storefronts in Brilliant and McMurray, Pa., and a seven-store chain in Pennsylvania and Maryland, The Times Leader Online reported.
The Kwik King sites include two locations in Toronto, and one each in Steubenville, Ohio; Weirton,W.Va.; Wintersville, Ohio; and Follansbee, W.Va.
With the acquisitions, Washington-based Coen Oil now oversees 31 stores in four states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and Maryland.
“The Ashbridge and Kwik King acquisitions, in addition to the two individual sites, demonstrate Coen Oil’s commitment to the retail convenience business,” Andy McIlvaine, Coen Oil president, told The Times Leader Online. “While we have owned and operated our current sites for several years, we see the need to continue to expand our footprint and offering to our customers.”
Kwik King is a full-service convenience store chain that offers hot and cold foods, including its signature Kwik King fried chicken. Some locations also offer catered food, and all are equipped with gas pumps.
The deals follow Coen Oil’s 2011 acquisitions of Zappi Oil Co., a move company officials said served to bolster its commercial fuel distribution business.
