BP’s Gulf of Mexico response has included more than $4 billion spent to date, including more than 153,650 payments totaling $395 million (as of presstime) in claims to Gulf residents and businesses affected by the oil spill. Other payments included:
• $20 billion claims escrow fund
• $100 million unemployed rig workers’ fund
• $500 million establishing Gulf Coast research institute
BP’s Oil Recovery Efforts Include:
• 30,294 response personnel
• 3,581 vessels, 835 skimmers and 72 aircrafts
• 826,988 barrels of oily liquid have been skimmed (34.7 million gallons)
• 265, 450 barrels in controlled surface burns (over 11.1 million gallons)
