Spring Valley High School Ocean Science Team and coaches, representing the five-state Midwest, departed from the Team Oil Travel Center in Spring Valley, Wis. Monday April 28, 2014, at 4 a.m. As regional winners of the Sturgeon Bowl in Milwaukee, earlier this spring, they will be representing the Midwest in National Ocean Science competition in Seattle Washington.

The five team members, Tyler O’Keefe, Captain Claire Arneson, Sophia Koch, Esther Gland and Tana O’Keefe, along with their head coach, Michele Huppert and husband, assistant coach Eric Huppert, will spend a week in grueling competition and research with split second responses and testing.

Southwest Airlines donated the flights for the five Team members, Coach Michele Huppert’s flight is provide by the National Ocean Science Bowl, Assistant Coach Eric Huppert’s flight and expenses are provided by the Team Oil Travel Center and round trip limo service is provided by Jay Arneson.

The Spring Valley School District does not provide financial support for National competition so Arneson, Tony and Eric Huppert provided the addition financial support to make Spring Valley’s National Science representation, a highlight for the Spring Valley Area and Team.

Congratulations and good luck for a safe, memorial experience.

A very appreciative thank you to the ‘Team Member’s Parents’ for their educational support for the community.
