Buddy Bass Tournament and Shamrock sales aid cause.

Home Service Oil Co.’s annual Buddy Bass Tournament to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in April raised approximately $50,000, thanks to a combination of Shamrock sales in Express Mart Convenience Stores and 61 two-person teams who participated in the fishing tournament fundraiser.

Tournament winners Scott Danek and Scott Danek Jr, brought in 23.56 pounds of fish. Second place was Randy Schanuel and Greg West with 22.84 pounds, and third place finishers Joel Justice and Ken Sheets brought in 18.55 pounds. The event was held at Lakeview Resort at Lake of the Ozarks.

Lindsay Firestone, MDA’s executive director, noted that a vital part of MDA’s financial support comes from strong partnerships. There are more than 200 MDA offices nationwide and each has teamed up with caring corporations, organizations and brands, which each year generate tens of millions of dollars through creative campaigns, sales and year-round special events.

Through the work with the Shamrocks against Dystrophy mobile campaign and bass tournament, Home Service Oil Co. has raised over $50,000 this year for the St. Louis Chapter. All of the money raised will stay local to provide research, services and education to the patient families.

MDA is a national voluntary health agency dedicated to finding effective treatments and cures for more than 43 muscle-wasting diseases.
