Flying J, the struggling travel center corporation that recently merged with PilotTravel Centers LLC of Knoxville, Tenn., as part of its framework for emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy, is selling its truck repair shops, the Post-Tribune reported.
Bosselman Boss Shops of Grand Island, Neb., has acquired the 15 J Care Service Centers, a subsidiary of Flying J Travel Plazas, for an undisclosed price.
The management changeover is already underway and will be completed by the end of the year.
Chuck Bosselman, president of Bosselman Inc. told the Post-Tribune the acquisition was for the truck repair shops only and that the travel centers will remain Flying J.
“We’re expanding our locations and Flying J is getting out of the truck repair business. They had a small number of shops-15 nationwide. We’ll have 25 after the acquisition,” Bosselman said.
Bosselman said truckers will find more options to pay for their repairs and more tire brands under his company, and that the repair shops will provide oil changes, do minor repairs, sell tires and offer a full line of truck parts and accessories.
In addition, the company features a road repair service, where employees will travel up to 50 miles to repair a truck broken down on the road.
Founded in 1948, the Bosselman Family of Companies also owns and operates eight travel centers, seven Grandma Max’s Restaurants and Sam Bass’ Saloon & Steakhouse, 41 Pump & Pantry convenience stores including three motels and two Motel 6 franchises, among other businesses.
