Flying Star Transport (FST), a subsidiary of Davidson Oil, has acquired Refined Fuels Transport (RFT), based in Albuquerque, N.M.
RFT is a petroleum freight business specializing in tank-truck petroleum fuel transportation in the New Mexico, Arizona and West Texas markets.
RFT offers safe, practical and working solutions for fuel transport and operates a fleet of heavy trucks and fuel tankers that haul diesel, gasoline and biofuels for large wholesale fuel marketers.
The company provides professional services from the earliest planning of logistics to moving fuel efficiently and safely. Headquartered in Albuquerque, N.M. and currently serving three states, the company was founded by Dan Lewis in May 2018.
With the mission of being the “Fuel Industry Standard for Safety and Trust,” the team led by Lewis and Fernie Fierro, El Paso Terminal Manager, provides safe and quality bulk fuels transport services and logistics through a combination of competitive prices, dedicated employees and modern equipment.
Flying Star Transport was established in 1999 to serve as a partner to Davidson Oil Co. as well as other fuel companies in the Amarillo, Texas, market.
Today, FST has expanded its operation to over 55 trucks with terminals in Amarillo, Lubbock, Odessa, San Antonio and Albuquerque and is excited to add El Paso to the fleet.
Davidson Oil Co. began its operations in 1974 and has emerged as a leading branded and non-branded fuel distributor. The company provides fuel supply to large chains and single store operators as a trusted partner handling all logistics related to fuel.
Davidson Oil prides itself in providing onsite fuel within 48 hours, self-contained fuel systems in a variety of sizes, gasoline, diesel, avgas, or Jet A fuel, the finest quality fuel control systems in the market and rock-solid service.
Chan Davidson, co-owner and CEO of FST, said his team is thrilled to combine forces with Refined Fuels and that the operational experience that Dan and Fernie bring to this market will only enhance FST’s growing presence.
“Refined Fuels boasts a solid operational structure and an outstanding group of safe and reliable transport drivers that will complement our current operations,” said Davidson. “This acquisition will further enhance our presence in the Albuquerque and El Paso markets and enable us to expand our offering of efficient and timely services.”
Lewis added that the timing was perfect and that he couldn’t have picked a better partner than FST for growth enhancements.
“This acquisition delivers the kind of unbeatable service and peace of mind that our markets have been starving for, providing safe and reliable fuel transportation and logistics throughout every part of New Mexico and beyond,” said Lewis.
Co-owner of FST, Jodi Davidson Teal, echoed these sentiments in saying that this was a best fit for strategic growth and gave FST an opportunity to continue forward in their mission to “build peace of mind by being crazy good” on behalf of their growing customer base.
Mike Reams, director of operations for FST, said the markets in El Paso and New Mexico will benefit greatly from the acquisition.
“Combining forces will allow our customers a broader coverage area which they may not have had before by a single supplier,” said Reams. “And it really opens the door to continue our push for a “One Call Does It All” offering to our current customer base and prospective customers alike.”
Part of the “One Call Does It All” theme includes Davidson Oil’s extensive family of companies, including Willborn Tank and Fuel Systems, SkyRite Signage Company and Advanced Compliance Testing (ACT), which provides petroleum and storage tank owners with comprehensive environmental testing services designed to provide you peace of mind with your regulatory compliance.
