Foxtrot has opened its first brand new location since relaunching its brand in June 2024. Located in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago, the site joins six Foxtrot storefronts in Chicago and two in Dallas.
The retailer is expanding its popular café menu with new offerings for breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks. The updated menu features revamped breakfast tacos on locally-produced tortillas, house-made smoothies and an expanded selection of globally-inspired gummies.
Alongside an enhanced foodservice menu, the store will showcase Foxtrot’s curated selection of premium goods, featuring new offerings from local artisans and CPG brands.
“This new store represents the next chapter for Foxtrot as we continue growing in neighborhoods we love,” said Mike LaVitola, Foxtrot’s Chairman. “Lincoln Park has been an important part of our story from the beginning, and we’re excited to deepen our roots here with a fresh new space designed to better serve the neighborhood.”
To celebrate the opening, Foxtrot is offering customers a free coffee from 6-11 a.m. on May 15. On May 16, the retailer is hosting Vendor Day, which will feature samples from Hormbles Chormbles, Floura, Dough Snatchers, (p)rind and more.
To conclude the grand opening festivities on May 17, Foxtrot is offering slow pour samples of BIG FACE coffee and a free kid’s donut with any purchase.
“The new store will feature unique design elements, including a spacious patio with 25 seats and thoughtfully crafted build components designed by Marco Veneziano Interiors, creating an inviting atmosphere for customers,” Foxtrot noted in a statement.
Foxtrot’s Comeback
In April 2024, the c-store industry was shocked to learn that Foxtrot had unexpectedly shuttered the doors to all of its locations throughout Chicago, Dallas and Washington D.C. At the time, the business was operated under Outfox Hospitality, which included Foxtrot and Dom’s Kitchen & Market locations.
“It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you of a difficult decision we have had to make. After much consideration and evaluation, we regret to announce that Foxtrot and Dom’s Kitchen & Market will be closing their doors starting on April 23, 2024,” the company noted at the time of the closure. “We explored many avenues to continue the business but found no viable option despite good faith and exhaustive efforts.”
Obviously, Foxtrot’s story didn’t end there. Just two months later, the retailer announced plans to reopen some of its previous locations — the first of which coming online in September 2024 in Chicago’s Gold Coast.
Since then, Foxtrot has reopened five additional Chicago sites, and two in Dallas. Founder Mike LaVitola told CStore Decisions in March 2025 that this time around, the company will be “taking a much more measured approach.”
“Obviously, we think Foxtrot belongs in a lot more neighborhoods,” he said. “But, we’re going to do so in a much slower, much more methodical way.”
LaVitola said that the company’s focus is on its first 10 stores — the plan beyond that is “getting back to basics,” he concluded.
