C-store retailer Fresh Stop has announced two key additions to its executive leadership team — Matt Pickelsimer as president and Kelly Bacon as CFO.
Pickelsimer brings over two decades of leadership experience spanning the convenience store, restaurant and car wash industries. In his new role, he will oversee Fresh Stop’s strategic growth initiatives, drive operational efficiency and strengthen the company’s focus on customer experience across all locations.
Prior to joining Fresh Stop, Pickelsimer served as senior vice president at Mammoth Holdings, where he led a 155-store portfolio to a 14% same-store sales increase, reduced customer churn by 60 basis points, and achieved $2.3 million in annual savings through vendor consolidation. He previously held leadership roles at Murphy USA and 7-Eleven, where he was recognized for significant operational turnarounds and received top performance accolades, including 7-Eleven’s “Most Improved Market” award.
With a strong background in P&L management, team development and operational strategy, Pickelsimer is set to guide Fresh Stop through its next chapter of expansion. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Central Florida and is currently pursuing an MBA at Dallas Baptist University.
“I’m honored to join the talented team at Fresh Stop and excited about the opportunity to continue building something great. I look forward to helping the company deliver consistent excellence across all locations,” said Pickelsimer.
Joining Pickelsimer on the executive team, Kelly Bacon takes on the role of CFO. With more than 25 years of experience in finance and operations within the convenience store, fuel and car wash industries, Bacon brings deep expertise to Fresh Stop’s financial strategy and infrastructure.
Most recently, Bacon led the accounting, treasury and tax teams at The Wills Group, a $1 billion-plus business, where she implemented a PDI ERP system and cleared seven years of accounting backlog. At Royal Farms, she modernized financial operations by streamlining close processes, rolling out Concur Expense and Sage Fixed Asset systems and supporting multiple M&A efforts.
Bacon holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Maryland and is recognized for her strengths in financial reporting, automation, and building high-performing teams.
