The GATE Foundation, the philanthropic affiliate of Florida-based GATE Petroleum Co., raised $115,000 for the MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation (MWYF) to support the organization’s new Teen Center.
Funds were raised at the foundation’s annual charity golf tournament, held at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
At the tournament, MWYF Founder MaliVai Washington spoke about the impact of the organization’s programs on today’s youth, specifically teenagers, and thanked the GATE Foundation for its valuable partnership.
“The guidance and support provided by the staff and volunteers of the MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation is truly helping youth in our community to create a successful path of their own,” said Kathy Brady, executive director of The GATE Foundation. “We are delighted to assist such a highly-regarded organization and to play a role in supporting the newly announced Teen Center.”
An after-school youth development program in Jacksonville, Fla.’s urban core, MWYF promotes academic achievement and positive life skills through tennis for students in kindergarten through high school.
