For years, regulations have been a point of contention for convenience store retailers, and a growing health-focused mindset has led to the introduction of nicotine-free and tobacco-free items. Inflation has spurred price consciousness among consumers, forcing many tobacco customers to forgo their usual purchase and switch to cheaper options.

Tobacco category managers have needed to be adaptable to the changing landscape, sometimes rather quickly depending on location.
