Stores equipped with NFC technology can begin offering customers the ability to pay with their Android phone.

Google introduced a new digital wallet called Android Pay, which lets customers pay using their smartphones, at its annual developer conference in San Francisco on Thursday, May 28, The Wired reported

Android Pay will be available on select future Android phones and from the Google Play app store. Similar to Apple Pay, customers add their credit card information into their phone and can then pay by touching the phone’s fingerprint reader. It will work at stores equipped with near field communication (NFC) technology.

Business Insider noted that Android Pay will work with MasterCard, Visa, Amex and Discover. Samsung—the biggest global Android maker—is launching Samsung Pay this summer.

The move brings us ever closer to a world where mobile payment at retailers is the norm. Chevron and Cumberland Farms are among c-store chains already offering Apple Pay.
