A former U.S. senator joins the Hess board of directors team.

Hess Corporation announced the election of former Sen. Sam Nunn to its board of directors.

Nunn served as Georgia’s senator for 24 years (1972 to 1996), and was a chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations and served on the Intelligence and Small Business Committees. Nunn is currently retired from the King & Spalding law firm.

Sen. Nunn is co-chair and CEO of the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI), a charity organization working to reduce the global threats of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. He has also continued work as a distinguished professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at Georgia Tech and as chairman of the board for the Center for Strategic and International Studies in D.C.
