High's isthe first c-store chain to bring frictionless checkout to Baltimore.

High’s will adopt Skip Frictionless Checkout in 36 locations by the end of May 2019.

Skip is a mobile payment option that allows customers to purchase items on their phones without visiting a cashier in store. The app can be found in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

“Skip Frictionless Checkout is a key first piece in our digital platform moving forward.” said Senior Analytics and Implementation Manager Noah Sanders. “It will enhance our customers’ in-store experience along with the reboot of the High’s loyalty program and mobile app coming soon.”

Store associates are notified when a Skip customer enters the store and are able to monitor their purchase during their visit. This allows the customer freedom to shop at their own pace and leave without spending time waiting in line for the next available cashier.

High’s is the first c-store chain to bring frictionless checkout to Baltimore.

Founded in 1928 as ice-cream store chain, High’s has since grew rapidly throughout the mid-Atlantic states. At one time, there were more than 500 locations, making High’s the largest ice-cream store chain in the world.

In 2012, Carroll Independent Fuel Company acquired High’s and began to build off its strong heritage. Today, High’s operates 48 c-stores and employs 500 people.
