monsterenergy-cansIn another attempt to drive sales, McDonald’s is now selling Monster energy drinks at select locations.

Following the launch of all-day breakfast, McDonald’s is now testing another strategy to drive business in its restaurants. Some 20 U.S. McDonald’s stores in various states are now offering these highly caffeinated beverages for individual sale, as well as additions to value meals.

According to a report from Bloomberg Business, select stores in Michigan, Ohio, Georgia, Florida and Illinois are testing the drinks. This addition comes in response to consumer desire to see Monster beverages on the McDonald’s menu. The move is strategic, given that Monster shares rose 5.2% in the last eight months, bringing the shares up 29% this year.

The hope is that this new addition to the McDonald’s menu will help attract business and will be beneficial to both McDonald’s and Monster Beverage Corp.

Customers may now add a Monster beverage to their value meal for approximately $1.50 extra at participating locations.
